Tripura has seen a significant decrease in infant and maternal mortality rates, according to Chief Minister Manik Saha. This improvement has been attributed to the state’s investment in healthcare infrastructure and services.
Speaking at the 19th annual conference of the Tripura chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India, Saha highlighted the progress made in the state’s healthcare system. He mentioned that previously unattainable medical procedures are now successfully being performed in Tripura, such as kidney transplants. Efforts are also being made to introduce liver transplants within the state, eliminating the need for residents to seek advanced medical treatment outside Tripura.
Saha emphasized the government’s commitment to modernizing and improving accessibility to healthcare services. Both urban and rural areas are receiving equal attention, with new trauma centers and upgraded facilities being established in district and sub-divisional hospitals.
The Chief Minister noted that the decline in infant and maternal mortality rates is a result of continuous enhancements in healthcare services. He stressed the government’s dedication to strengthening the healthcare sector at all levels.
Furthermore, Saha announced the expansion of telemedicine services at Agartala Government Medical College to enhance patient access to medical care. Plans are underway to set up a studio to provide better benefits from telemedicine services.
At the conference, two doctors were honored for their exceptional contributions to medicine, and a medical student was recognized for outstanding academic performance.
Saha reiterated the state government’s aim to not only modernize healthcare but also to ensure high-quality medical services are accessible to all citizens of Tripura.
