Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha made a significant announcement on Wednesday, revealing that the BJP-led state government has successfully appointed 19,742 regular employees across various departments over the last seven years. This declaration was made during a ceremony where the Chief Minister personally distributed appointment letters to 184 newly hired junior engineers.
Saha proudly stated, “Altogether 19,742 regular posts in different government departments have been filled up since the BJP-led government was formed in Tripura.” This statement was intended to refute claims made by the opposition regarding insufficient recruitment. Additionally, he mentioned that an additional 8,000 jobs had been created through contractual and outsourcing methods.
In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized that employment generation is just one facet of the government’s larger agenda. “We are concentrating on making the youth self-reliant,” he stated. Saha highlighted the growth in the number of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in the state, which has increased from 4,000 in 2018 to 56,000 in 2024, providing livelihood opportunities for thousands of individuals.
Furthermore, Saha underscored the state government’s dedication to infrastructure development, revealing that a substantial amount of ₹7,000 crore has been allocated in the current budget to enhance Tripura’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP).
Addressing the newly appointed engineers, Saha urged them to embrace modern technology and innovation. “Days have changed with the introduction of AI. If you use the latest technologies like AI and 5G, the quality of your work will be different and better,” he advised. He encouraged them to contribute to the construction of a modern state through their work.
Despite the positive developments, Saha acknowledged the challenges faced by the state, particularly construction delays caused by extended monsoon seasons. These delays often result from paperwork and site access issues, which can stretch completion timelines. The Chief Minister assured that efforts are being made to address these challenges and ensure smooth progress in infrastructure projects.
