News Report:
Agartala, Tripura: The Tripura Tea Mazdoor Sangh held a press conference at the Agartala Press Club, raising serious concerns over several issues affecting tea workers across the state.
Addressing the media, union leaders alleged that plans to introduce pump-well cultivation in various tea gardens would severely impact tea workers, threatening their livelihoods and long-term existence. They stated that such activities could disrupt traditional tea cultivation practices, reduce employment opportunities, and cause irreversible harm to the workers’ socio-economic security.
The union highlighted multiple demands related to workers’ rights, job protection, and welfare measures. Leaders asserted that the voices of tea workers are being ignored despite repeated appeals to the authorities. They warned that if their demands are not addressed promptly, the organisation would approach the High Court seeking legal intervention.
Union representatives further cautioned that failure to resolve the issues would compel them to launch a broader mass movement in the coming days. They urged the government and concerned stakeholders to initiate dialogue and take immediate steps to safeguard the interests and existence of tea workers in Tripura.
The press conference concluded with a call for unity among tea workers and appealed to the public and media to support their cause.
