BAMUTIA | July 8, 2026: A powerful, high-velocity localized cyclone tore through the Vrindavan Choumuhani pocket under the Bamutia assembly constituency today, leaving behind a massive trail of structural destruction. The intense atmospheric storm, accompanied by torrential downpours, flattened several residential houses, uprooted massive trees, snapped vital high-voltage overhead electricity supply lines, and completely devastated local agro-economic setups, including a commercial poultry and duck farming facility.
Upon receiving updates regarding the extensive scale of the natural disaster, the local Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), Shri Nayan Sarkar, immediately rushed to the affected zone to personally supervise the emergency field assessment.
Extensive Ground Destruction Paralyzes Local Rural Infrastructure
The sudden cyclonic storm struck the agricultural belt of Vrindavan Choumuhani with extreme force, ripping off tin roofs from semi-pucca houses and collapsing mud structures. Upended trees fell across major arterial village roads, completely paralyzing vehicular movement and cutting off the neighborhood from adjacent market grids.
The regional electrical grid suffered catastrophic damage, with multiple utility poles collapsing under the weight of falling branches, triggering a widespread power blackout across the Bamutia block. Additionally, local small-scale entrepreneurs suffered heavy financial losses, notably highlighted by the complete structural collapse of a prominent regional duck farm, which resulted in significant livestock casualties.
Accompanying MLA Nayan Sarkar during the intensive ground inspection were senior CPI(M) organizational heads from Bamutia, including Comrade Partha Das and Comrade Vishnu Das, alongside a large team of local village panchayat coordinators. The delegation walked through the debris-strewn lanes, interacting directly with the displaced families who have been forced to take temporary shelter under plastic tarpaulins.
”The scale of destruction witnessed here in Vrindavan Choumuhani today is deeply alarming. Multiple families have been rendered completely homeless within a matter of minutes, and their basic household belongings have been entirely ruined by the torrential rains. Local livelihoods, particularly our rural poultry and duck farmers, have faced a direct financial blow. I want to assure the affected residents that they are not alone in this hour of crisis. I have already initiated a preliminary dialogue with the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Mohanpur regarding this emergency. We demand that the civil administration immediately deploy regional revenue inspectors to map every single affected household and execute fast-tracked financial compensations and emergency rations without any red tape,” Bamutia MLA Nayan Sarkar asserted to reporters at the spot.
Opposition Front Mobilizes for Immediate Administrative Response
The visiting political leadership emphasized that the immediate priority of the state administration must be the rapid restoration of essential services. The CPI(M) block workers have set up an emergency volunteer desk to assist families with clearing fallen trees from residential yards and distributing immediate dry food supplies.
The opposition delegation explicitly requested the Mohanpur sub-divisional administration and the disaster management cell to deploy emergency medical teams to prevent the outbreak of waterborne diseases following the flash flood-like situation. Furthermore, they urged the state power corporation (TSECL) to dispatch technical repair crews on a war footing to safely clear snapped live wires and restore power connectivity to the affected sub-stations.
