AGARTALA: Following the grand ceremonial Passing Out Parade of the newly trained police constables, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha hosted a comprehensive press conference today. The media interaction took place right after the high-profile ceremony at the Kumar Trishul Dhari (KTD) Singh Police Training Academy in Narsingarh, on the outskirts of the capital.
Addressing journalists, the Chief Minister—who also holds the state’s Home portfolio—outlined the government’s visionary roadmap for sweeping police reforms, infrastructure modernization, and an aggressive upcoming recruitment drive to fortify Tripura’s internal security matrix.
A Historic Milestone for Women Empowerment
During the press conference, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha highly praised the impeccable standards of the synchronized drills exhibited by the graduating batches. He emphasized that the day marked a landmark event in the history of the state’s law enforcement structure due to its demographic breakdown.
Key Institutional Data Released by the CM:
- Graduating Strength: A total of 476 recruit constables formally joined the mainstream ranks of the Tripura Police after successfully completing 11 months of high-intensity training.
- Unprecedented Female Representation: Out of the 476 newly inducted personnel, 318 are women constables and 158 are men.
- Advanced Training Modules: The CM highlighted that the 91st and 92nd batches have been rigorously trained not just in conventional policing, but in specialized fields including cybercrime investigation, counter-insurgency operations, forensic science, and disaster management.
Major Recruitment Drive Announced
In a major announcement that will cheer job aspirants across the state, Dr. Manik Saha used the press platform to announce that the state government is moving swiftly to fill crucial vacancies within the police department to maintain an ideal police-to-population ratio.
”To significantly enhance our field presence and investigative capabilities, our government has officially approved the immediate recruitment of 1,134 additional personnel into the Tripura Police force. The official board processes for appointing 218 Sub-Inspectors (SIs) and 916 new Constables will be initiated on a war footing shortly. We are committed to maintaining absolute transparency in these employment lines,” Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha told reporters.
“Transitioning into a Tech-Savvy, Humane Force”
Elaborating on the core philosophy of modern governance, the Chief Minister stated that the administration expects a complete behavioral and operational shift from the new recruits when dealing with the public.
”Modern policing cannot function effectively in isolation or by relying solely on old-school methods. We are equipping our personnel with cutting-edge digital infrastructure to combat the evolving profile of cyber fraud and cross-border drug syndicates. However, technology must be balanced with empathy. The police must be approachable, people-friendly, and maintain a zero-tolerance stance against crimes targeting women and children,” Dr. Manik Saha asserted to the media house representatives.
Launch of Pioneer ‘Track Me’ Safety App
Flanked by Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Dhankar, the Chief Minister also formally briefed the media on a brand-new tech rollout. Tripura has officially become the first state in the country to integrate the advanced “Track Me” feature within the pan-India 112 Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) mobile application.
This option allows women, university students, and elderly citizens traveling alone during late hours to share their real-time geographical coordinates directly with the centralized police control room, allowing immediate interception by nearby emergency response vehicles in case of any hostile situations.
