AGARTALA: In a major push to accelerate the growth of the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector and foster a robust ecosystem for budding entrepreneurs, the National Mega Udyam Samagam 2026 was successfully organized today. Structured under the direct initiative of the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Limited (TIDCL), the high-profile industrial convention was hosted at the Pragna Bhavan auditorium in Agartala.
The convergence drew a massive assembly of budding entrepreneurs, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), tech start-ups, traditional artisans, and aspirational youth from all eight districts of the state. The day-long seminar focused on unlocking central and state welfare templates, processing credit subsidies, integrating digital marketing tools, and designing cross-border market expansion channels.
A Comprehensive Industrial Exhibition & Recognition Drive
The conclave served as a multi-disciplinary sandbox aimed at elevating home-grown Tripura products to national and global supply chains.
Key Dynamic Focus Areas of the Samagam:
- Credit & Subsidy Facilitation: Direct interactive desks where financial experts guided local entrepreneurs through collateral-free loan mechanisms, banking credit linkages, and capital investment subsidies.
- Digital Integration & Logistics: Specialized workshops detailing how rural artisans can list their products on pan-India e-commerce networks and utilize standardized logistics wrappers to lower shipping overheads.
- Empowering Grassroots MSMEs: Prominent stalls highlighted indigenous handicraft innovations, organic agricultural yields from local FPOs, and handloom textiles crafted by rural women-led SHGs.
- Udyam Awards: The state commerce department formally conferred institutional awards to pioneering local entrepreneurs who have generated significant regional employment over the past fiscal year.
The mega convention was graced by Commerce and Industries Minister Santana Chakma as the Chief Guest. She was accompanied on the dais by TIDCL Chairman Nabadal Banik, and West Tripura District Acting Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil, alongside a host of senior IAS officers, industry captains, and banking executives.
Sudden Nor’wester Damages Exhibition Stalls; Minister Assures Immediate Assistance
The afternoon phase of the industrial conclave faced an unexpected climate disruption when a violent Nor’wester (sudden summer storm) accompanied by torrential downpours and gusty winds swept across the capital city.
The open-air hangar area outside Pragna Bhavan, where the Department of Industries and Commerce had set up specialized exhibition stalls for rural entrepreneurs, bore the immediate brunt of the storm. Several stall frameworks collapsed, and the sudden influx of rainwater caused noticeable damage to the fragile inventory, handloom products, and processed food packets brought by the participating artisans.
Taking immediate stock of the emergency, Industries Minister Santana Chakma and TIDCL Chairman Nabadal Banik personally waded through the affected exhibition area to inspect the structural damage and evaluate the loss of products.
“The Government Will Compensate and Handhold Our Artisans”: Minister Santana Chakma
Reassuring the distressed entrepreneurs who suffered financial losses due to the sudden weather anomaly, Minister Santana Chakma made it clear that the state administration would not leave them stranded.
”The National Mega Udyam Samagam 2026 proves that Tripura’s youth are no longer just looking for jobs—they are creating jobs. Our artisans, SHG mothers, and start-up founders have brought incredible innovations to Pragna Bhavan today.
While the sudden storm and rain have caused unfortunate physical damage to some of our outdoor exhibition stalls and products, I want to assure every single affected entrepreneur that your state government stands firmly by you. I have already directed senior department officials to conduct a spot assessment of the damaged goods. The Department of Industries and Commerce will extend a helping hand and provide necessary financial assistance to compensate for these losses. Our goal is to empower our local MSMEs, and a temporary weather setback will not block our vision for a self-reliant Tripura,” Industries Minister Santana Chakma stated to reporters.
TIDCL Chairman Nabadal Banik echoed the Minister’s stance, stating that the corporation’s field officers will streamline the damage verification files within 48 hours to ensure a smooth, red-tape-free release of emergency financial support to the affected rural artisans.
