Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has accused the CPI(M) of resorting to lies and creating confusion among the people through political conspiracies. Speaking at a massive gathering in his Majlishpur Assembly Constituency under West District, Chowdhury alleged that the CPI(M) has a history of using propaganda and manipulation, often in collaboration with the Congress, to disrupt governance.
Chowdhury claimed, “The CPI(M) has always relied on spreading falsehoods and engaging in conspiracies, with the Congress at times aiding them. This was evident in past elections where Congress workers were targeted or displaced under the CPI(M) rule. Now, as elections approach, they are once again spreading rumors about the stability of the current government.”
In response to these allegations, Chowdhury announced that the BJP plans to hold a large gathering to protest against what he described as “dirty politics and propaganda” by the CPI(M) and Congress. He reassured the public, saying, “We are fully prepared to counter this propaganda. The people are on our side. Instead of resorting to personal attacks, we focus on performance, delivery, and work. This is how we will campaign in the upcoming elections.”
Highlighting the achievements of the BJP government in Tripura since coming into power in 2018, Chowdhury emphasized that there have been no incidents of political violence or murders in the state. He underscored the party’s commitment to democracy, development-oriented politics, and standing with the people. Chowdhury praised the BJP as a disciplined party with a difference.
Reflecting on the tumultuous political history of Tripura, Chowdhury recalled the Mandwai massacre of 2003 during the CPI(M) regime, where divisions were allegedly created between tribal and non-tribal communities for electoral gains. He also mentioned how Congress leaders, including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Sitaram Yechury, and Prakash Karat, had held meetings against the CPI(M) at that time.
Looking back at the 2018 state elections, Chowdhury credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for leading the BJP to victory and ending the misrule of the CPI(M). He drew parallels with West Bengal, stating that just as the CPI(M) failed to make a comeback in that state, the people of Tripura have also rejected their ideology.
