AGARTALA | July 3, 2026: Laying the organizational groundwork for its massive upcoming state convention, the Tripura State Committee of the All India Kishan Sabha (AIKS) held an important assembly today at the Bhanu Ghosh Smriti Bhavan in the Melarmath area of Agartala.
The primary objective of the meeting, chaired by senior peasant leaders, was the formal constitution of a dedicated State Preparatory Committee to oversee the multi-phase mobilization, logistics, and agenda mapping for the state conference.
Media Invited to Document Peasant Mobilization
Recognizing the vital role of the press in highlighting agrarian issues, AIKS State Secretary Pabitra Kar had issued a formal invitation to all print, electronic, and photojournalists to cover the proceedings of the strategy session.
The meeting drew a large gathering of peasant delegates, rural organizers, and union representatives from across various districts of Tripura, all assembling at 3:30 PM today to finalize the organizational framework.
”The formation of this State Preparatory Committee is a vital step toward making our upcoming state conference a historic success. The peasantry in Tripura is currently facing unprecedented economic challenges, ranging from rising input costs to a lack of fair MSP. Through this preparatory body, we will coordinate extensive block-level and village-level conventions across the state to bring the genuine grievances of our farmers to the forefront. We thank the media fraternity for their presence today to help us amplify the voice of Tripura’s agricultural community,” AIKS State Secretary Pabitra Kar stated.
Key Operational Targets Discussed by the Committee
During the session at Bhanu Ghosh Smriti Bhavan, the newly formed preparatory committee outlined several immediate field objectives:
- Decentralized Sub-Committees: Establishing specialized wings for logistics, draft resolution planning, finance management, and mass publicity to streamline the conference operations.
- Grassroots Outreach Drives: Launching extensive rural campaigns across all eight districts to draft localized charters focusing on irrigation, crop insurance delays, and fertilizer availability.
- Youth and Women Integration: Ensuring active representation of young farmers and agrarian women workers within the preparatory structures to broaden the union’s reach.
The session wrapped up with the newly appointed committee members taking charge, promising a highly coordinated and impactful state conference in the coming months to advocate for the rights of the state’s farming community.
