Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the state’s success in maintaining a lower rate of road accidents compared to the national average, during an event organized by the Transport Department in Agartala. The Chief Minister inaugurated 16 new Basic Life Support ambulances and launched the Virtual Vehicle Location Tracking and Monitoring System to further enhance road safety measures in Tripura.
While acknowledging the positive trend in road safety, Dr. Saha stressed the importance of remaining vigilant and proactive in implementing measures to prevent accidents and reduce fatalities. He highlighted the need for strict enforcement of traffic regulations, including verifying the validity of driving licenses and promoting helmet usage among riders and pillion passengers.
The Chief Minister emphasized that helmets should be worn for safety reasons, not just to avoid penalties, as they play a crucial role in preventing serious head injuries in accidents. He commended the role of fire service personnel in providing emergency assistance and noted that the new ambulances equipped with basic life support facilities would enhance the state’s emergency response capabilities.
Dr. Saha also emphasized the collaborative efforts of the central and state governments in improving road safety and urged citizens to take responsibility for their actions while commuting. He called for a collective effort to ensure safer roads for everyone, emphasizing that prevention is always better than cure when it comes to road accidents.
