Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury has emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong connection with the people by continuing to hold his weekly ‘Jana Darbar’ sessions, providing a platform for citizens to directly address their grievances with their elected representative.
Chowdhury expressed that ‘Jana Darbar’ is an opportunity for the public to bring their concerns to their representatives, highlighting his commitment to engaging with constituents and addressing their issues since taking office as an MLA in 2018.
On Saturdays, the minister meets with hundreds of constituents who raise various issues including financial struggles, unemployment, pension-related matters, education, and social welfare concerns. During these sessions, he personally listens to grievances and works towards finding solutions in collaboration with relevant government departments.
Drawing parallels with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s ‘Mukhyamantri Samipesu’ initiative, Chowdhury emphasized the importance of public representatives being accessible and responsive to the needs of the people they represent.
“These weekly interactions serve as a way to build a stronger relationship between the people and their representatives. They ensure that citizens feel heard, supported, and cared for,” Chowdhury stated, confirming that the practice will continue in the future.
The ‘Jana Darbar’ initiative has been widely praised for bridging the gap between the government and the public, enhancing accountability and trust in governance. It serves as a platform for citizens to voice their concerns directly to their elected representative and work towards finding solutions to their problems.
